UFC 239 is tomorrow and everyone has their eyes on Jon Jones and Thiago Santos. The two are scheduled to tango in the main event. With the expertise of Jon Jones and Thiago Santos’ explosiveness, we asked some professional fighters how they thought Saturday’s main event would go down.
Liz Carmouche, UFC Women’s Flyweight
“You’ve got two very talented people. Jones is really good at keeping his distance and kind of enticing you almost like a snake charmer where he’s just dancing and he’s moving, he’s able to pull you into his game plan. But, he’s going against a heavy hitter that if he makes a simple mistake or he’s too repetitive he can knock him out. I think this is going to be a really fun fight and one that I’m looking to watch.”
Hannah Goldy, Contender Series Strawweight
“I see Jones in a later round stoppage.”
“Jesse” James Wallace, Contender Lightweight
“Jon Jones by however he wants. Not only are we First Round Management homies, but he’s just on another level, man. If DC couldn’t do it, that’s probably going to be it. I think Jon ends it however he wants. I don’t think Santos is going to have the heart that Lionheart has to hang around. I think Jones will finish him in the third or the fourth, something like that. Later on in the fight, he will catch him.”
Chandler Cole, Valor Fights Heavyweight Champion
“I think Jones is going to starch his ass. The reason I believe Jones will win is because he does so well at keeping people away with his long limbs. I think he’s going to give Santos a lot of problems. Also, I believe he has a strength advantage. Even though it’s not really stated, Jones is a high caliber wrestler. I truly believe anywhere this fight goes. Jones will have the advantage. It’s very possible that John Jones finishes him. But you never know in the sport.”
Eryk Anders, UFC Light Heavyweight
“I think Jon will implement his wrestling.”
When asked if it would be a quick night for Jones, Anders said, “At least 2 rounds. I’m pulling for Thiago I just think the riddle that is Jon Jones is really tough to crack.”
Wilson Reis, Former UFC Flyweight
Wilson Reis, former UFC title challenger, is going with his fellow countryman. “I have Thiago to win by KO. He has the power and fought some good guys. Let’s hope for that.”
